Submit an abstract for the 2nd international ‘Being SEA-EU’ conference and get funding for your trip to Spain! In October, researchers from all SEA-EU alliance partner universities will meet in Cádiz to present their research results. The deadline for submitting abstracts is April 25, 2025.

The international conference ‘Being SEA-EU’ is the largest science event of the European coastal alliance. The first edition took place in June 2024 at the University of Malta and attracted over 300 participants! During 150 presentations and 43 panel discussions, scientists from all over Europe exchanged experiences, talked about their research and networked.

The next opportunity to build scientific cooperation within SEA-EU will be between October 22 and 24,  2025 during the second edition of ‘Being SEA-EU’ in Cádiz. Within the scope of the SEA-EU and SEA-nergy projects, six scientists and six doctoral candidates/students from each partner university will be able to apply for funding to participate in the conference.

PLEASE NOTE: The call for applications for travel grants under the SEA-nergy and SEA-EU projects will only start after the organisers have finished accepting abstracts. Only those whose abstracts are accepted by the Scientific Committee of the ‘Being SEA-EU’ Conference will be eligible to apply for funding. Abstracts must be submitted by April 25, 2025.

Submissions can be sent in one of five thematic categories:

  • Health Sciences
  • Social Sciences
  • Exact/Natural Sciences
  • Arts and Humanities
  • Engineering

The conference is intended to be popular and is aimed at a wide audience. Its aim is to present research results and exchange experiences among students and researchers from nine universities in the SEA-EU alliance: Gdańsk, Cádiz, Brest, Kiel, Split, Malta, Algarve, Naples and Bodø. The event also promotes European values and sustainable development, in line with the SEA-EU mission.

The organisers have provided for the possibility of presenting topics in the form of a paper (face-to-face/online) as well as a poster session. All submissions will be evaluated by the Conference Scientific Committee.
