The Red Rose Award is a prestigious competition organised by the academic community of Pomerania, which for decades has been promoting outstanding students and the most active scientific circles. The grand finale of the 49th edition of the competition took place on May 24, 2025, at the Great Armoury, the seat of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. The Scientific Circle of Chemists of the University of Gdańsk won in the Best Scientific Circle of 2025 category!

‘This is a great honour for the entire team, which passionately combines science with social commitment. The Red Rose Award is not only a prestige for us, but also a motivation to continue our work and development,’ said Julia Dunajska, President of the Scientific Chemistry Club of the University of Gdańsk, in her acceptance speech.

The winning Scientific Chemistry Club of the University of Gdańsk, operating at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Gdańsk, defeated strong competition representing universities from across the region. The competition jury appreciated the Club's comprehensive activities: from advanced research projects, through award-winning teaching and publishing work, to charity campaigns and activities promoting chemistry among children, young people and the local community. The jury consisted of: Vice-Rectors of the universities participating in the competition (8), representatives of the Red Rose Association (3), representatives of the Programme Council of the Red Rose Association (3), representatives of the competition sponsors (3) and a representative of the Gdańsk Scientific Society (1).

The Red Rose Award competition is one of the oldest projects of its kind in Poland, organised by the Red Rose Association since 1962. Each edition selects the best students and the most active scientific circles from Pomerania. The winners receive not only recognition, but also attractive prizes - the winner of this year's individual category, Mateusz Klebba (a fifth-year student at the Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski University of Business and Administration in Gdynia) received the keys to a new car, and the best scientific circle in the Pomeranian Province received a cash prize of PLN 15,000.

Saturday's gala brought together numerous representatives of Pomeranian universities, academic circles and the media. After the official part, the participants celebrated the successes of young scientists with a symbolic glass of wine in the historic interiors of the Gdańsk Armoury.

We would like to congratulate all the finalists and thank the Red Rose Association for organising an event that has been supporting and inspiring the academic community in the Pomerania region for many years!
