Developing the internationalisation of the university, improving the quality of education and promoting modern teaching methods - the University of Gdańsk has received over PLN 1.3 million in funding for the implementation of the SEA-nergy II project. The grant, awarded under the NAWA programme ‘Support for European universities - 2025 call for proposals’, will contribute, among other things, to the development of joint SEA-EU study programmes.
The University of Gdańsk has obtained funding for the implementation of the SEA-nergy II project, which is a continuation of the project ‘Support for synergistic and complementary activities of the SEA-EU 2.0 - SEA-nergy project’. The project received funding in the call for proposals for the Support for European Universities programme - call 2025, run by the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA). The initiative provides significant support for activities carried out within the SEA-EU alliance of European universities, in particular for the development of joint study programmes: Sustainable Blue Economy (Sea-BluE), Port Management and Logistics (MIPMAL) and Sustainability Transition for Organisations and Resilience Management (STORM).
The SEA-nergy II project is comprehensive in nature and covers a wide range of activities aimed at academic and administrative staff involved in the implementation of joint study programmes, as well as students. The main objective of the project is to develop the internationalisation of the university, improve the quality of education and promote modern teaching methods.
The University of Gdańsk received PLN 1,359,612.50 in funding for the project. The head of the SEA-nergy II project is Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Internationalisation dr hab. Anna Jurkowska-Zeidler, prof. UG.
‘The SEA-nergy project is part of the University of Gdańsk's strategy for internationalisation and confirms that we know exactly how to make our academic space more open and friendly to visitors from abroad. Winning the NAWA competition means not only additional funding, but above all new energy to work even more actively in our SEA-EU alliance - to strengthen our position in the European space, opening up new development opportunities for our students and staff,’ says the head of the SEA-nergy II project, Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Internationalisation, dr hab. Anna Jurkowska-Zeidler, prof. UG.
The project includes activities such as:
- a promotional campaign for joint study programmes,
- training for academic staff,
- short-term mobility for academic staff and students,
- the implementation of modern teaching tools and methods,
- the organisation of integration events such as summer schools and symposia for students and staff,
- the implementation of a system for monitoring the mobility of staff and students.
‘The implementation of the SEA-nergy II project will strengthen operational activities related to the running of joint study programmes within the SEA-EU alliance. Thanks to the funding obtained, it will be possible to implement solutions that improve both teaching and administrative processes, taking into account the needs of international academic cooperation. The project also provides for the organisation of training courses and short-term mobility for staff and students of the University of Gdańsk,’ says Magdalena Dziki, executive coordinator of the SEA-nergy II project from the Office of Cooperation and Internationalisation.
The SEA-nergy II project complements the activities undertaken in connection with the launch and implementation of joint SEA-EU study programmes, which are a new initiative of the alliance. This is another step towards building the position of the University of Gdańsk as a modern European university, actively participating in shaping the educational and research space at the international level.
The programme is financed by European funds from the European Social Development Fund 2021-2027 (ESDF), NAWA Project entitled ‘Support for European University Alliances’ with the number FERS.01.05-IP.08-0219/23.
