
Two researchers from the Institute of Psychology at the University of Gdańsk have been honoured with the Copernicus Prize 2025, awarded by the Polish Neuropsychological Society. This year, dr hab Łucja Bieleninik, prof. UG and dr Ilona Bidzan-Bluma from the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology were recognised for their contribution to the development of neuropsychology.
‘We are happy and proud of this award,’ says Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Gdańsk, prof. Michał Harciarek. ‘Prof. Łucja Bieleninik and Dr Ilona Bidzan-Bluma are outstanding researchers with excellent scientific achievements. It is worth remembering that the Copernicus Prize is awarded to individuals who have either made a significant contribution to the development of neuropsychology or are conducting very promising research in this area. I am delighted that the work of researchers from the Institute of Psychology of the Faculty of Social Sciences, as well as their contribution to the development of neuroscience, are being recognised and appreciated.’
The Copernicus Prize is one of three awards granted by the Polish Neuropsychological Society. To date, this award has been presented to over 600 distinguished scholars from around the world who have contributed to the development of Polish neuropsychology. The award given to researchers from the Institute of Psychology at the University of Gdańsk is a recognition of their innovative research and significant contribution to the development of clinical neuropsychology and therapeutic methods supporting people with brain dysfunctions.
The award ceremony took place on 10 October 2025 at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, during the 26th Neuropsychological Congress.
