The Consortium for the Standardisation of Management Solutions for Universities, comprising the University of Łódź, the University of Opole and, since 2024, the University of Gdańsk, organised the Academic ICT Meetup 2025 conference. The event took place on 24-25 November this year in Gdańsk and brought together university managers in the field of ICT (Information and Computer Technology). It was an opportunity to exchange experiences and know-how, as well as to engage in an in-depth discussion on the challenges of managing information technology in the academic environment.

‘For years, the Academic ICT Meetup conference has been a space for open exchange of experiences and discussions about what is really happening in the field of ICT at our universities,’ said UG Chancellor dr hab. inż. Aneta Oniszczuk-Jastrząbek, prof. UG.This year's edition is unique because it coincides with the 55th anniversary of the University of Gdańsk. For us, it is a time to reflect on the path we have travelled, but also an opportunity to look to the future. It is an important moment that reminds us of the significant role that modern technologies play today in the development of universities and in supporting their mission.’

Managing ICT in universities is a huge challenge, requiring not only specialist knowledge in the field of information technology, but also a broad understanding of formal and legal issues, including public procurement, security and digital accessibility. Conference participants discussed, among other things, defence against cyberattacks, implementation of the EDMS system, data management and digital platforms in European University Alliances. The Vice-Rector for Development and Finance at the University of Gdańsk, dr hab. Paweł Antonowicz, prof. UG, spoke about management cockpits at the University of Gdańsk as one of the analytical components of the University's Strategy. The Pionier network services and systems supporting access control in student dormitories were also discussed.
