Why are deferred payments so tempting? How can you shop without getting into debt? Is online security possible? And what should you know when starting a business? Experts will answer these and many other questions during the Financial Ombudsman Days, which will take place on 16 and 17 April at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics at the University of Gdańsk.

This year’s Financial Ombudsman Days will be held under the slogan ‘The Well-being of Your Finances’. Over the course of two days, students from the University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology and the Medical University of Gdańsk will learn how to look after their financial well-being.

The theme of the first day of the event will be “The present and the future? Saving methods and risk avoidance”. On Thursday, 16 April, experts will present various methods of saving for one’s ‘golden years’, explain the mechanics of the pension system, and demonstrate how to invest small amounts using the examples of government bonds and ETFs.

The second day will focus on financial security. The spotlight will be on issues related to misinformation and fake news in finance and their impact on young people’s decisions. Experts will also explain the risks associated with cryptocurrencies and BNPL (buy now, pay later) services, highlighting how to avoid falling into debt. The very important topic of online security and financial hygiene will also be addressed. Participants will learn how to protect their data and funds from cybercriminals. The event will conclude with a panel discussion for those planning to start a business. Experts will offer advice on what to bear in mind when launching your first business.
