Sports competition, outdoor physical activity, and medals and recognition from the academic community of the University of Gdańsk for the best participants – all this on May 28, 2025, during the UG Rector’s Cup Run (start at 11:30 a.m.), which this year is part of the celebrations of the 55th anniversary of the university. As usual, the route will run through the picturesque Oliwa Campus, but this time it will be the same length for both women and men, at 2.5 km.

‘Running is a physical activity that evokes many positive emotions. It is not only a competition with your weaknesses, but above all a way to spend time in good company,‘ encourages Tomasz Aftański, Director of the Centre for Physical Education and Sport at the University of Gdańsk. ’Here, everyone is equal. Both students and employees have the same route to complete,’ he adds.

The traditional UG Rector’s Cup Run is open to students, doctoral students and university employees. The competition will be held in two categories: women and men; this year, everyone will have to cover the same distance - 2.5 km. The competition village, where the start and finish lines will be located, will be next to the Main Library of the University of Gdańsk. Changing rooms for women will be available at the Faculty of Law and Administration (near the fitness room), and for men in the former Rector's Office (near the sports hall) at ul. Bażyńskiego 1a.

Students actively participating in the run can make up for individual physical education classes. Those who would like to participate but have other classes at the university at that time can obtain a certificate of participation in the run. The certificate can be collected at the competition venue after the event (after the award ceremony for the best competitors).
