The excellent individual and team results during the Polish Academic Championships are the result of a year of hard work and full commitment by the athletes - male and female students - and the exceptional coaches of ASA University of Gdańsk. It is also a reason for joy and pride for the entire academic community.

The Academic Sports Congress is a two-day event filled with lectures, panel discussions and expert meetings, which is an opportunity for in-depth, comprehensive reflection on issues related to sport and physical activity at universities. Traditionally, it is crowned with the Academic Sports Gala, during which thanks and awards are presented to the medallists of this year's Universiade, as well as prizes for the best universities in the Polish Academic Championships classification.

‘We are very proud of our student athletes. It is primarily their work and commitment that have enabled them to achieve such great results. The gala concluded the 2025 Polish Academic Championships, and we have another edition ahead of us. I hope we will remain among the best, although our rivals are not sleeping and will certainly be pushing hard!’ said ASA UG President Piotr Walczak. ‘However, the most important thing is not the results, but the joy of practising sport, overcoming one's weaknesses and pushing one's limits.’

On behalf of the University of Gdańsk, the awards were received by: Vice-Rector for Student Affairs dr hab. Urszula Patocka-Sigłowy, prof. UG, coach of the ASA UG Section for People with Disabilities Małgorzata Aftańska, ASA UG President Piotr Walczak, ASA UG board member Aleksandra Lewandowska and Director of the UG Centre for Physical Education and Sport Tomasz Aftański.

‘This is a great joy and pride! Pride in the athletes, as well as in the coaches, without whom such success would not have been possible. I hope that with the developing sports infrastructure on our campus, there will be more and more student athletes at the University of Gdańsk,’ said Tomasz Aftański.

We warmly congratulate the athletes and coaches!
