
The main tasks of the University Council for Education Evaluation are to monitor the compliance of the educational offer with the University of Gdańsk Strategy, to evaluate the activities undertaken by the university team responsible for the quality of education and the senate committee responsible for education, and to present recommendations for the improvement of the education process. The meeting of the new council took place on March 20, 2025, directly after the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the University of Gdańsk.
The meeting of the University Council for Education Evaluation, appointed for the 2025-2029 term, was chaired by the Vice-Rector for Education of the University of Gdańsk, dr Ewa Szymczak, prof. UG, who welcomed the Council Members on behalf of the rector's authorities. The Vice-Rector presented the main documents regulating the activities of the Council to the participants and discussed the assumptions of the University of Gdańsk Strategy regarding issues related to education.
‘Ensuring the highest quality of university education is one of the priority areas of the University of Gdańsk Strategy for 2025-2030,’ said prof. Ewa Szymczak. ‘The specific objectives include the implementation of modern education in the spirit of building inclusiveness, dialogue and participation, also in an international and multicultural perspective, attracting and supporting talent, and building a culture of continuous development of competences of people involved in the education process.’
The meeting participants also discussed the most important challenges facing the University of Gdańsk today in terms of ensuring the highest quality of education based on changing needs and challenges. The topics of discussion included the drop-out phenomenon, graduate employment, and the offer of micro-certificates, which are part of the concept of lifelong learning.
