The University of Gdańsk took part in the prestigious Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit in Warsaw (June 4-5, 2025) - one of the largest conferences in Europe dedicated to women in technology, science, and innovation. This is the third time that the University of Gdańsk has actively participated in this event, emphasising its commitment to developing the potential of young female scientists and students.
At this year's event, which attracted over 10,000 participants, the University of Gdańsk was represented by two student research clubs: DeepDive and Work in Progress from the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, together with their academic supervisors. The university's participation in the event was coordinated by the UG Communication and Promotion Centre.
The programme also included a presentation by dr hab. Inż. Aneta Lewkowicz, prof. UG from the Institute of Experimental Physics, Mathematics, Physics and Informatics UG, who, together with her doctoral students Martyna Czarnomska and Emilia Gruszczyńska, gave a presentation entitled ‘From Light to Innovation: Women Scientists in Forensic Sciences’. The presentation was very well received by the participants.
The University of Gdańsk, like other leading universities, marked its presence in the education zone, promoting innovative fields of study and an interdisciplinary approach to academic and professional career development.
The Women in Tech Summit was also attended by many global leaders in the technology industry, companies recognised as innovative and influential in the world of new technologies. The presence of brands such as GE Aerospace, Ergo Technology & Services, Google, Procter&Gamble, Ernst&Yang, T-Mobile, Microsoft, Amazon, Tik Tok, Warner Bros. Discovery and Hitachi created an excellent space for networking, searching for internships and jobs, as well as exchanging inspiration between the academic community and the labour market.
‘The Women in Tech Summit is a unique event that inspires and shows the great potential of young women choosing a career in science and technology. We are proud that the University of Gdańsk has been part of this community for the third time,’ said dr hab. Inż. Aneta Oniszczuk-Jastrząbek, prof. UG, Chancellor of the University of Gdańsk.
Participation in the event is not only a promotion of the university, but above all an opportunity for a real exchange of experiences, cooperation with business, and inspiration for further development. The University of Gdańsk consistently supports equal opportunities, innovation and the presence of women in science and new technologies.
