Gdańsk Branch of the PAS Awards for Young Scientists - four laureates from UG!

We know the winners of the ‘Competition for the Gdańsk Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences Award for Young Scientists for the best creative work published in 2025’. As always, the awards were presented in five categories; in four of them, the laureates were researchers from the University of Gdańsk!

The Gdańsk Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences Award for Young Scientists is granted for an original research achievement whose lead author is an employee or a PhD student at a research institution in the Pomeranian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian or West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Five equal prizes are awarded in the following scientific categories: 1) humanities and social sciences, 2) biological and agricultural sciences, 3) exact and Earth sciences, 4) technical sciences, 5) medical sciences.

The competition committees recognised publications that “stood out for their high scientific quality and significant contribution to the development of individual disciplines”. For works published in 2025, researchers from the University of Gdańsk were awarded a total of 4 prizes and 4 honourable mentions.

Humanities and social sciences:

  • Honourable mentions: dr Julia Balcerowska-Detmer, dr Zofia Litwinowicz-Krutnik

Biological and Agricultural Sciences:

  • Award: dr Maciej Mańko
  • Honourable Mentions: dr Weronika Babińska-Wensierska

Exact and Earth Sciences:

  • Award: dr Denis Dobkowski-Ryłko
  • Honourable Mentions: Kinga Hoszek-Mandera, MSc

Medical Sciences:

  • Award: dr Justyna Topa

 

The awards ceremony will take place on 10 June this year. We warmly congratulate all those who have won awards and received honourable mentions in the competition!
