Preliminary admissions results. What are applicants choosing? We know the most popular fields of study at the University of Gdańsk

Over 32,000 candidates are applying for admission to full-time first-cycle degree programmes and integrated master’s programmes at the University of Gdańsk. Among the most popular degree programmes are Criminology, Journalism and Social Communication, Psychology, Audiovisual Production and Japanese Studies. Administration, Film and Audiovisual Culture Studies, Cultural Communication, Sinology, and Law were also very popular. Admissions for some degree programmes are still open!

‘The results of this year’s admissions for full-time first-cycle degree programmes and integrated master’s programmes confirm that the University of Gdańsk continues to attract strong interest from applicants, who choose our university because of its diverse range of courses, high standard of education, modern infrastructure and friendly academic environment,’ says the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, dr hab. Urszula Patocka-Sigłowy, prof. UG.

According to preliminary data taking into account the number of applicants per place, the most popular programmes among applicants for first-cycle and integrated master’s degree programmes are: Criminology (15.03 applicants per place), Journalism and Social Communication (13.32), Psychology (11.01), Audiovisual Production (10.70), Japanese Studies (10.63), and Administration (9.62).

Rounding off the top ten most popular degree programmes are: Film and Audiovisual Culture (8.63), Cultural Communication (8.56), Sinology (8.56), and Law (8.56).

New degree programmes have also attracted considerable interest. Forensic Analysis attracted 7.7 applicants per place, whilst Sports Law attracted 4.18.

In terms of the number of applications, Law remains the leader. Over 2,000 candidates are applying for a place on this programme. The next most popular programmes were: Psychology (over 1,900 applications), Economics (over 1,600), International Economic Relations (over 1,500), and Management (over 1,100).

The Faculty of Chemistry was the first to publish its shortlist of candidates on 13 July. The lists of those admitted to this faculty will be published on 20 July. The dates for the announcement of shortlisted candidates and subsequently admitted students for individual degree programmes can be found at rekrutacja.ug.edu.pl.

Admissions for some degree programmes are still open

Registration is still open for Religious Studies, Russian Studies and German Studies. Admissions for part-time and postgraduate programmes also remain open.
