Visit of the Minister of Science and Higher Education to the University of Gdańsk

Continuation of successful cooperation and benefits not only for the university. On the day of laying the foundation stone for the construction of the UG Sports Centre, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Marcin Kulasek, visited the University of Gdańsk.

During the meeting between the Minister of Science and Higher Education and the Rector of the University of Gdańsk, prof. dr hab. Piotr Stepnowski, the most important issues concerning the university's development strategy and plans for the future were discussed.

‘I see the need for cooperation on projects such as the construction of the Sports Centre, which will serve not only the university community, but also the local community and Tricity, because sport brings everyone together,’ said Minister Marcin Kulasek.

The meeting also touched upon the subject of student dormitories and the need to develop the related infrastructure. ‘The Ministry of Science and Higher Education, together with the Ministry of Development and Technology, has developed programmes that universities, including the University of Gdańsk, will be able to take advantage of,’ said the Minister. The immediate plans look promising.

‘We are very pleased with the cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education so far,’ emphasised the Rector of the University of Gdańsk, prof. Piotr Stepnowski. ‘I am convinced that this cooperation will also bear valuable fruit in the future.'

After the meeting, the Minister of Science and Higher Education and the Rector went to the construction site of the University of Gdańsk Sports Centre to participate in the ceremony of laying the foundation stone.
