The creation of an innovative, comprehensive platform supporting the mobility of scientists and their career development based on European standards through the establishment of a regional NAWA-EURAXESS network point, which will strengthen the international competitiveness of Gdańsk and Pomerania, attract world-class scientists and increase the internationalisation of the local scientific community – these are the objectives of the MOSAIC project, implemented by the University of Gdańsk in cooperation with Fahrenheit Universities: Gdańsk University of Technology and the Medical University of Gdańsk. The project received maximum funding of PLN 749,559.80 under the NAWA-EURAXESS Network.
The aim of the NAWA-EURAXESS Network programme is to build regional partnerships in every province of Poland, with the participation of scientific institutions, universities and other organisations working for the benefit of foreigners. These partnerships are designed to support the creation of a friendly environment for scientists and doctoral students coming to Poland and their families. Another key element is cooperation with provincial offices in the area of legalisation procedures for foreign researchers and their families.
The University of Gdańsk, as the project leader, together with its partners, Gdańsk University of Technology and the Medical University of Gdańsk, received a maximum grant of PLN 749,559.80 for the implementation of the project ‘MOSAIC - Mobility, Academic Synergy and Initiative - Development of the Potential of The Fahrenheit Union of Universities in Gdańsk within the EURAXESS Initiative’.
‘The MOSAIC project further strengthens the strategic architecture for internationalisation,’ said Vice-Rector for Cooperation and International Relations dr hab. Anna Jurkowska-Zeidler, prof. UG. ‘Building an international, synergistically cooperating scientific community is necessary to effectively face the global challenges of the modern world. At the University of Gdańsk, we have been pursuing a vision of interdisciplinary, international and multicultural science for years, combining the best practices from around the world. Participation in the NAWA-EURAXESS Network is another step on this path.'
MOSAIC aims to create an innovative and comprehensive platform supporting the mobility of researchers and their career development based on European standards set out in the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. The project will be implemented by the universities forming the Fahrenheit Union of Universities in Gdańsk, which brings together three leading academic institutions in Gdańsk: the University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology and the Medical University of Gdańsk.
‘An important advantage of the project is the fact that all three universities affiliated with the Fahrenheit Union of Universities in Gdańsk have been awarded the HR Excellence in Research label by the European Commission. As part of the project, these institutions will implement the highest standards of transparency in recruitment, stable employment conditions and high-quality administrative support for researchers,’ says project manager Magdalena Sawicz, Director of the Cooperation and International Relations Office at the University of Gdańsk. ‘The MOSAIC project will be implemented in accordance with horizontal policies: ensuring equal opportunities and non-discrimination, supporting cultural diversity, sustainable development and social responsibility. The activities will also include the implementation of environmentally friendly solutions and support for the integration of foreign researchers and their families into the academic community of the Pomeranian region.’
The project will result in the creation of a regional NAWA-EURAXESS network point, which will strengthen the international competitiveness of Gdańsk and Pomerania, attract world-class scientists and increase the internationalisation of the local scientific community.
