For the third time, on the last Friday of September, the University of Gdańsk, along with other Fahrenheit universities, the Science Experiment Centre and Hevelianum, welcomed all those interested in science as part of Pomeranian Researchers' Night. Children, young people, entire families, and school groups – the turnout exceeded the organisers' wildest expectations!
The programme of this year's event (which took place on 26 September 2025) at the University of Gdańsk included 10 lectures and several dozen workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions, educational stands, field games and escape rooms. Although the main theme of this year's edition of the Pomeranian Researchers' Night at the University of Gdańsk was adaptation to climate change and environmental protection, the attractions were prepared by researchers representing various fields of science, including biology, chemistry, geography, oceanography, physics, psychology and others. Scientists from universities affiliated with the SEA-EU alliance also joined in the organisation of PNN 2025.
The events took place at four faculties: Biology, Chemistry, Oceanography and Geography, and Social Sciences, and attracted over five hundred children, young people and adults.
‘We are very pleased with the growing attendance and interest in science among young people every year,’ said prof. Wojciech Glac, PNN coordinator at the University of Gdańsk. ‘There were also numerous adults and entire families; parents asked as many questions as their children, so we hope that scientific issues will become a topic of many conversations at home.’
During the Pomeranian Researchers' Night at the University of Gdańsk, visitors could see unique specimens of carnivorous plants, learn about the tastes and smells of chemistry, try on replicas of costumes from ancient Rome, or play mini golf in the relaxation zone.
