October has long been recognised as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This coming Saturday (24 October), as part of the ‘Gdańsk Chooses Health’ programme, the University of Gdańsk Library will host the event ‘FIRST IN BREAST CANCER PREVENTION. Don’t Put Yourself on the Back Burner’, co-organised by the Fahrenheit Universities Women’s Club, dedicated to the prevention and diagnosis of breast cancer. It’s a great opportunity to look after yourself, learn more, and talk to specialists.
The highlight of the event is a unique photography exhibition, depicting the story of a woman through the various stages of her illness. This serves as a starting point for a discussion on why prevention is important - and why it’s not worth putting off check-ups.
We encourage you to find a moment for yourself and to encourage your loved ones to do the same!
The programme includes:
- free walk-in ultrasound scans
- health and self-care zones
- talks by experts (doctors, psychologists and others)
Registration for screenings will take place on-site on the day of the event, from 10.00. We will set up a registration desk in the UG Library foyer, where participants will receive numbered tickets entitling them to undergo the screenings. Places are limited.
