The first stage of enrolment is now over! According to preliminary data, the most popular fields of study (the highest number of candidates per place) include Journalism and Social Communication, Criminology and Psychology. Japanese Studies and Audiovisual Production were also very popular. Enrolment for some fields of study is still open! Additional enrolment has also begun for fields of study where the limit of places has not been reached.

Lists of candidates for most courses have already been announced. The document submission stage is currently underway. The first list of accepted candidates will be published at the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk (18 July), followed by lists of accepted candidates for other faculties, which will be announced successively from 21 July. Over 11,000 places are available for candidates in nearly 100 fields of study. So far, over 27,000 applicants have registered!

‘As the results of this year's recruitment show, interest in studying at the University of Gdańsk remains high,’ said UG Rector Prof. Piotr Stepnowski. Candidates choose the University of Gdańsk not only because of its rich and diverse educational offer, but also because of the high level of education, modern infrastructure and friendly academic environment. The recruitment results confirm our high positions in national and international rankings, both general and subject-specific, as well as those for individual fields of study. As you can see, the University of Gdańsk remains an attractive choice for young people who want to develop, gain knowledge and, in the future, work in their dream jobs with good salaries.

Taking into account the number of applicants per place during this year's recruitment at the University of Gdańsk, the most popular fields of study among candidates for first-cycle and long-cycle programmes were: Journalism and Social Communication - 10.92 applicants per place, Criminology - 10.88 applicants per place, Psychology - 10.38 people per place, Japanese Studies - 10 people per place, Audiovisual Production - 9 people per place.

However, the highest number of applications overall was recorded for Psychology, which was chosen by over 1,800 candidates. It was followed by Law (over 1,300 applicants), Economics (over 1,200 applicants), Management and International Economic Relations (over 1,000 applicants).

It is also worth noting the growing interest of candidates in English-language studies. For the first time since its launch, the International Business programme offered by the Faculty of Economics was among our top ten programmes with the highest number of applications, with 6.29 applicants per place.

‘The results of this year's recruitment for full-time first-cycle studies confirm that the University of Gdańsk enjoys unflagging interest among candidates,’ summarised Vice-Rector for Student Affairs Dr Urszula Patocka-Sigłowy, Prof. UG. 'The leading and most popular fields of study are criminology, journalism and social communication, psychology, and Japanese studies, but in general, the number of applicants per place indicates that our offer meets the expectations of high school graduates. We offer education in almost all fields and adapt our offer and curriculum to ensure that young people can enter the labour market after graduating from the University of Gdańsk knowing that they are prepared for its challenges. We also care about the well-being of our students and their cultural development, we support them and listen to their needs. In addition, we have an excellent academic staff and modern campuses. That is why it is worth studying at the University of Gdańsk!'
